DISIT lab and research group of the University of Florence (http://www.disit.dinfo.unifi.it) is active since 1994. It is one of the most active labs on ICT and Big Data of the University of Florence. DISIT successfully developed a relevant number of International and National research, development and innovation projects. DISIT provides an infrastructure for big data, cloud and distributed computing, the DISIT datacenter and collaborates with International stakeholders, companies and research groups: Leonardo, Swarco, THALES, ENEL, TIM, Engineering, IBM, CSAVRI, FRI of UNIFI, CNIT, CINI, KSI (USA), MPEG ISO, VARGROUP, etc.
DISIT research areas: big data, data mining, IOT/IOE, semantic models and computing, knowledge representation and inference, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, sentiment analysis, distributed systems, high performance, content and data licensing and protection, ontology modelling, formal models, metrics definition and assessment, digital rights management, and conditional access. DISIT algorithms and solutions for: recognition, disambiguation, user behaviour analysis, collective analysis, recommendation, multilingual and cross media indexing, path generation, user profiling, indoor/outdoor navigation, media synchronization, knowledge matchmaking, decision support, sentient and autonomous agents and tools, ontology production, etc. References of DISIT activities in the areas of knowledge mining and semantic computing:
