SMANCO consists of a sensor and a communication unit in a monitoring application that monitors status and alarm responses in cases of opening the manhole cover or trying to temper with the sensor or communication unit. The communication unit uses Sigfox  to communicate with monitoring system, which role is to process messages, raise alarms, and handle scenarios for monitoring purposes. The spatial data and the position of each manhole is shown on the map.
